Exploring Three Tenths of the World

Independence Day

Well, that was…interesting. On the forth of July, 2022, we declared our independence and resigned from our jobs. To recap, the initial plan was simple – quit work and see the world. It started well, but read through the earlier posts and you’ll see the plan got progressively more complicated. So here we are, one year later and where have we been? Long story short, we found a little place to buy, threatened to burn down a solicitor’s office and finally, three weeks ago moved into the expensive address and storage container our new home.

Goodbye!

Worldly Possessions

It was a little sad to be leaving our home of many years but not nearly has gut wrenching as I imagined. Harder and more emotional was saying goodbye to our neighbours. Excitement built as we dropped off the keys, put the last few items into storage and then turned Godzuki!’s stubby little nose north. Around Donington the calls came that the money had moved. Our old home had a new owner and I hope they are very happy there. We had our expensive address and storage container new home and a world to see.

Three weeks of non stop work turned our purchase into a low maintanance home as we scrubbed, painted, tried to hire a roofer and finally squeezed our remaining possessions into something that is best described as bijou yet queenly.

The journey we’ve dreamed of for so long can finally begin.

Where to first? We’ve packed our bags and head to South America for a long overdue visit to la familia. After all his hard work, poor old Godzuki! is being abandoned for this one. He probably needs the rest to be honest. He’ll be back in action in the autumn when we’ll head south through Europe but for now he sits forlornly on the driveway with only the new next door neighbour’s camper van for company.

Next stop Uruguay.
